Los \u00e1tomos de carbono que a\u00f1aden dureza a una pieza no pueden disolverse en ella a menos que la pieza se austenice, lo que provoca una transformaci\u00f3n de la estructura cristalina de la pieza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tras el calentamiento, las piezas se enfr\u00edan en un ba\u00f1o de sal fundida. Aunque esta temperatura var\u00eda en funci\u00f3n de la composici\u00f3n de la pieza y de la dureza final deseada, generalmente se realiza a unos 600\u00b0F. De esta forma se consigue una mayor resistencia y ductilidad de la pieza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La pieza se mantiene a esta temperatura hasta que se forma la bainita. La bainita se refiere a la microestructura creada por el proceso de austemplado. El austemplado puede durar tan solo diez minutos o hasta una hora y media, dependiendo de c\u00f3mo la composici\u00f3n de la pieza afecte a la formaci\u00f3n de bainita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El enfriamiento a temperaturas m\u00e1s altas para el endurecimiento en el austempering minimiza en gran medida el riesgo de que las piezas se deformen en comparaci\u00f3n con el enfriamiento en aceite. Esto se debe a que el enfriamiento de las piezas a temperaturas elevadas, en lugar de a temperaturas m\u00e1s bajas, ralentiza considerablemente el enfriamiento. Un enfriamiento m\u00e1s lento significa que las piezas sufren menos tensiones debidas a la expansi\u00f3n y contracci\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica y menos tensiones debidas a la transformaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El proceso concluye con el enfriamiento final de la pieza al aire libre a temperatura ambiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El revenido final de las piezas austempladas no suele ser necesario porque la dureza deseada de la pieza puede alcanzarse mediante la temperatura del ba\u00f1o de sal que sigue al calentamiento. Sin embargo, algunas piezas austempladas requieren un revenido posterior porque las piezas salen del temple m\u00e1s duras de lo que exige la especificaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beneficios del Austempering<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Las piezas tratadas por austemperizaci\u00f3n son ideales para su uso como componentes de sistemas sometidos a esfuerzos frecuentes, como muelles, clips y lazos de cinturones de seguridad en autom\u00f3viles, componentes agr\u00edcolas, cuchillas de cortadoras de c\u00e9sped, componentes de miner\u00eda, petr\u00f3leo y gas, y otras aplicaciones en las que la tenacidad es una de las principales preocupaciones. Las piezas austempladas se caracterizan por:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mayor ductilidad<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dureza uniforme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mayor resistencia al impacto y a la fatiga<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistencia al desgaste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistencia a la fragilidad por hidr\u00f3geno<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materiales para el Austemplado<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>El austemplado proporciona la mayor ductilidad disponible para los aceros que se sit\u00faan entre los 40 y los 40 a\u00f1os en la escala de dureza HRC.
