Hydrogen Brazing

Paulo’s hydrogen brazing delivers cleaner, brighter parts that meet all leak test requirements.

Quality Braze Joints for Your Components

Paulo’s in-house technical and metallurgical expertise – paired with industry-leading computer-controlled systems – mean we produce repeatable hydrogen brazing results that you can depend on. Our continuous-belt hydrogen furnaces are designed for low dew points (down to -60˚F) to ensure clean, bright brazed components every time. We work with high-temperature and corrosion-resistant alloys including austenitic and martensitic stainless steel and nickel alloys.

Benefits of Hydrogen Brazing

The high purity of the hydrogen atmosphere during brazing reduces the opportunity for surface oxidation to occur during processing, which helps yield bright, clean joints. The process also allows excellent flow of braze alloys, which creates a high integrity joint. Hydrogen brazing can also be used on a wider variety of materials as compared to vacuum furnace brazing.

Braze Filler Materials for Hydrogen Brazing

Braze filler materials we work with often include:

  • Nickel brazing alloys are ideal for joining heat and corrosion-resistant alloys such as stainless steels, nickel- and cobalt-base alloys and superalloys. They are commonly used for engine and turbine components in the aerospace and power generation markets, as well as heat exchangers and cryogenic tank components.
  • Silver brazing alloys can be used for joining steel, stainless steel, copper, copper alloys, nickel, nickel alloys or any combination of these materials.
  • Copper brazing alloys are ductile and offer corrosion resistance, excellent electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity. They are commonly used for joining carbon, alloy, and stainless steels and nickel.
  • Gold brazing alloys also exhibit ductility, ideal for applications where corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance is required. They are commonly used for aircraft engine parts, spacecraft, and nuclear components.
  • Palladium and other precious metal alloys are also typically used in aviation and aerospace applications thanks to their high temperature strength and oxidation resistance.

Hydrogen Brazing Process Details
